Act I

The act begins with the main protagonist, Astra, reviewing the objectives of her mission. The Society has tasked her with meeting a nun just outside the village of Wolf's Rest, located near the iconic City of Lioris. Astra's mission is to gain insight into the current plague situation affecting the city.

Upon arrival, the nun informs Astra that the vast majority of inhabitants in Lioris have contracted the plague, with many having died and transformed into monsters. Some survivors have fled the city, while a few have chosen to stay. The nun also mentions skirmishes along the borders with neighboring nations, severely hindered by the kingdom's recent overwhelming defeat when they attempted to invade the Ebonshade Forest.

The Nun suspects that the origin of the plague did not come from outside the city but rather from within, urging Astra to investigate Lioris. She mentions that the roads leading to Lioris have been blocked to prevent the plague's spread and suggests that Astra take an underground passage, the entrance to which is located in the village’s chapel.

As Astra explores the chapel, she encounters some unusual markings on the floor. As she approaches, the markings reveal a pentagram that begins to glow. A stone emerges from the altar and starts absorbing Astra's life force at a rapid rate. In an attempt to free herself, Astra shoots the stone, releasing a burst of energy that causes the ground beneath her to collapse, sending her into an underground cavern.

After recovering, Astra encounters Dmitrei, an alchemist. Startled by Dmitrei's appearance, Astra instinctively grabs a nearby object to use as a weapon, but Dmitrei quickly convinces her that he is not an enemy. He explains that she is not the first person to fall into the nun's trap; many adventurers seeking to help the kingdom have met their demise, but Astra somehow managed to survive.

Astra realizes she has lost her powers, and forgot many of her skills and spells due the magic release of the stone, also They both deduce that her gadgets were teleported away. Dmitrei, seeing her potential, teaches her how to regain her abilities and level up by absorbing the essence of enemies, whether mortals, demons, or beasts. Together, they navigate the underground, battling the denizens that oppose them. With Dmitrei's guidance and her own resilience, Astra eventually makes her way back to the surface and into the besieged City of Lioris.
